Working in sales can be a very fun, yet challenging career.
One of the biggest things you will find when applying for a job in sales is the fact that you don’t really need any qualifications, or even experience, to get a high-powered and high paid job in sales. This has allowed so many people to naturally fall into sales without any foundations or skill sets to make them achieve great things.
Which is one of the many reasons why I started Paragon Sales Solutions, and why I wrote The Paragon Mindset and Relationship Selling; I want to be able to help people to become the best sales people the can become! I am a massive advocate and believer that sales people need to study hard behind the scenes in their own time to become the best people they can be. This will not only help them to further their careers and their professional lives, but will also naturally lead to a higher level of sales and higher standard of customer service too.
So how should a sales person study? What is out there for a sales person, or even a business owner, to help them study sales skills?
Books
One of the best things I ever did for my career was to start reading. In fact, my very first sales book that I read was ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’ by Dale Carnegie. I had been told for so long that I was an excellent sales person, and my figures backed this up. However I wanted to understand sales in more detail, and I wanted to understand why I was so good at sales. However as soon as I started to pick up sales books I realised that I had just gotten lucky; I learned so much about sales, marketing and business in such a short amount of time that just by reading, I saw an even bigger increase in my sales and my confidence and passion too.
Start to pick up sales guides and books and give them a read; even just 15 minutes of reading a day can go a long way!

Don’t like reading? Perhaps watching videos could work! There are so many very good sales training courses available online now that you can easily find a webinar or training session to suit your needs. However even YouTube offers so many good sales videos for FREE! Just look at our very own YouTube channel for example; we have over 100 videos that offer simple sales training that can really help you to turn your sales around!
Sales Training
Of course, the best way to enhance your sales skills is through 1-1 , or even group sales training sessions. These will give you the chance to speak with a sales trainer direct who should work closely with you to work on your weaknesses, refine your strengths and leave you with all the skills, knowledge and motivation to get out there and sell more!
