I am sat here, currently writing this blog on a Macbook. As I glance up I see my iPhone sat there flashing with notifications. Further around the office I see a further two iPhones and an iMac. When I get home, I plan to go on a run and listen to some music on my iPod (yes, I still use one of those!)
Now, I am not telling you all of this as some form of way of bragging to you the kind of kit that IO use on a day to day basis. I am merely telling you because all of these items I own are down to one man:
Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs is perhaps one of the greatest, and most popular entrepreneurs of our time. Whether you like or loathe him, it is safe to day that Steve Jobs has revolutionised the modern day era and his legacy will go on for a very long time. This is why the authorised biography of him, written by Walter Isaacson features on Rob’s Best Business Books.
Taken direct from Amazon:
”Based on more than forty interviews with Steve Jobs conducted over two years – as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues – this is the acclaimed, internationally bestselling biography of the ultimate icon of inventiveness. Walter Isaacson tells the story of the rollercoaster life and searingly intense personality of creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.
Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written, nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against.
His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.”
If you are reading this blog post then it goes without saying that you have some interest in self-development, and you are looking to enhance your life and career; and this book is certainly one that will truly give you plenty to think about as your life drives forward. Sure, it is a very long book – perhaps the longest book in this series of business book reviews. However I still recall a lot of this book and find myself thinking back to it quite often. I have no doubt that if you were to persevere with this book you will find yourself truly inspired and motivated and willing to do more.
As always, we have posted a link below for you to be able to order your very own copy. We would love to know what you think to this book so please do drop a comment below and let us know your thoughts.
